Learn Squidoo
54Squidoo Basics
Squidoo eBook
I like Squidoo and use it similarly to the way I use Hub Pages.
Like Hub Pages, Squidoo is free so it can fit any ones budget. But the two things I like best are its relative ease of use and its high page ranking. These allow me to create not only interesting Lens as Squidoo calls it but also some powerful backlinks to my sites.
For example, I am promoting the Squidoo eBook called Squidoo Basics. In doing so, I designed the sales page to rank for the term Squidoo ebook, and then created a number of blog posts referring to it using my keyword as anchor text.
I am doing the same here with Hub Pages and also did a Lens on Squidoo doing the same thing. Hub Pages and Squidoo have higher page rankings than do my blogs, so the value to my site is greater when I use anchor text links from either or both.
This process of creating links from a variety of sources, helps my sales page site rise in the search engines. Now there are already a number of other long established sites that appear on Google when one searches for Squidoo ebook. It will take some effort to create more backlinks, but if I keep at it, I will eventually win a top ranking.
That means that eventually, I will be getting a fair amount of free traffic to my web site from people who are actually searching for an eBook on Squidoo.
So I'll be honest with you, I see sites like Squidoo as valuable for the power they can lend my other marketing efforts.
This process can be applied to any number of topics, from promoting your hobbies, supporting a cause you believe in, or outright marketing on the site.
What first attracted me to Squidoo, was the fact that unlike many other social networking sites, it was perfectly okay to use it for commercial purposes.
Some sites like MySpace, Facebook and others tend to frown on commercial messages and if you go too far, which isn't very far, you can find yourself banned.
Thee is much more to know and understand about how to maximize the value of your squidoo lens. These are covered in detail in the Squidoo eBook.
